Come Celebrate a Bountiful Harvest

Monday, November 26, 2012

The first Saturday in December is almost upon us!

For those new Half Pints fans, this Saturday (Dec. 1st) marks a special time of year at the brewery, where we fling the doors open at 9am and hold our Annual Open House.  Come tour the brewery at 10am, 1pm, or 3pm - we'll have the tasting room open for samples, along with some simple food pairings as well.  It's like Charlie and The Chocolate Factory for beer knurds.

This day also marks the 2nd release of our Demeter's Harvest, a Wheatwine of impeccable strength, body and lovely citrusy hoppiness.  This year's version was tasting nice from the tank, as our tour group found out this past weekend.  The beer is currently tracking as the number one Wheatwine in the World according to the folks over at BeerAdvocate.com.  Feel free to grab a bottle and add your voice.

Since you're coming, bring a tin for the bin in support of Winnipeg Harvest, or simply whip our your wallet and buy a few tickets for our awesome Leg Lamp Draw, where you could win a major award.  Hint: it is not the deed to a bowling alley and it is frAA GEE lay - that's Italian for wicked awesome.

While you're here, you can get it straight from the brewer's mouths as to what fun beers we've got up our sleeves in the coming months.  Hint: it does not contain limes, or get packaged into wide mouthed, BPA lined cans.

In other news:
The Isolator is busy winning some fans.  It's always interesting to see that even though some people are not familiar with a given style, they're still willing to give it a whirl.  More interesting is the folks I've heard from that used to watch their dad's and granddad's drink bock regularly, and how happy they are to have the style available again, even if it is only temporarily.  We've got some bottles sent off to the folks at Taps Magazine for review, which will probably hit the newsstands early in the New Year.

We're busy in the brewery preparing for the onslaught of the pre-Christmas rush for the next three weeks or so.  However, that doesn't preclude us having a little fun on the side with a Movember Wrap Party at The Hub (U of M) on November 30th.  My moustachioed face is in full swing and I've raised a few bucks for the charity while not looking completely ridiculous (arguably).  Click here to donate!  We'll be bringing a cask of the infamous Pistachio Mustachio Brown Ale - a nutty, pistachio laced brew.  Mustache rides optional.
